What
is Coaching?
Coaching
is one of the fastest growing tools that successful people use to live
extraordinary lives. It is a partnership between coach and client to engage in
a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the client to maximize
both their personal and professional potential. In short, the coach, will help
the client improve their performance and enhance their quality of life.
Coaching
is Not?
-
Mentoring;
mentor - role modeling "been there and done that"
-
Best
friend; telling - judging, can have own agenda
-
Consulting;
expert using skills and strategy to achieve specific results
-
Therapy;
is focused on past actions and experiences.
The past is never the focus of a coaching relationship; the past is
recognized and accepted.
Core

As
your coach, I will:
-
Encourage
you to set goals you truly want
-
Ask you to
do more than you may have done on your own
-
Help you
focus in order to produce results more quickly
-
Hold you
accountable to keep your commitments
-
Provide you
with the tools, support and structure to accomplish more
What approach will
we use?
The
approach I use to coaching focuses on both the short-term immediate
concerns/goals you are addressing and longer-term issues. We will focus on
these simultaneously because addressing both increases the effectiveness of
coaching.
People
who are consistently successful in their lives tend to have very high
congruence across all of the areas of their lives - professional, personal,
spiritual, etc. Our approach, while having a primary business focus, will
allow you to explore other areas of your life. We will use a holistic
perspective with key focus on the areas that might be impacting your level of
satisfaction.
What will we focus
on?
Focusing
on the short-term gets early successes and allows us to deal with the
issues
that is presently occupying most of your mental energy. These are the urgent
issues that significantly influence our stress levels and often dictate the
level of control we believe we have over our lives.
Focusing
on the longer-term issues allows for deeper, more sustainable change to occur.
These are the important, non-urgent issues that are the hardest to commit time
to addressing.
Coaches
set expectations:
What
will be our process? (This is a standard offer; your needs will be assessed to
determine the appropriate coaching schedule for you)
Process:
We
will hold one hour bi-weekly coaching calls. During these calls (meetings) we
will validate the goals/objectives on which we are working, assess the
situation, develop an agreed upon plan of action, and track the results of our
efforts. In between calls, I will be available via e-mail support to answer
any of your questions. If need be, we can also follow up with brief phone
calls.
